New to Crockett

Welcome to Crockett Elementary!

Here are a few things you will need to know.

School Starts at 7:35am
School Ends at 3:00pm

MORNING DROP OFF:  7:20 – 7:35am (straight to classroom)

-Pre- K & K & 1st & 2nd & and their siblings (in the carline) are to be dropped off at the main entrance of the campus. If you are in line prior to 7:20 A.M. we ask that you begin the line at the green donation box on Crockett Street as our busses need space to drop off students safely. Once arrival procedures begin, the first car will be asked to move up to the front entrance.

-3rd & 4th & 5th & and their siblings (in the carline) are to be dropped off on Shearn Street at the cafeteria entrance.

We will have two designated Goodbye Zones for those families choosing to walk their child to school. The Goodbye Zone for PK & K is located off of Shearn Street in the PK & Kinder playground. The Goodbye Zone for 1st-5th is located off Crockett St at the old campus entrance.

Prek – 5th-grade students are to go directly to their classroom.

Students are considered tardy at 7:35 A.M. and will be directed to the front office for a tardy slip.

DISMISSAL:  3:00 pm
Walkers:
PreK & Kinder students and their siblings will be dismissed on foot from the PreK & Kinder playground.
1st-5th Grade students and their siblings will be dismissed on foot from the old campus entrance located on Crockett Street.
Please ensure walkers utilize crosswalks at all times

Car Riders:
1st and 2nd-grade students will be dismissed from the main entrance of the campus located on Taylor Street. The line begins at the green donation box on Crockett Street. Once dismissal procedures begin, the first car will be asked to move up to the front entrance.

3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will be dismissed from the cafeteria exit located on Shearn Street. The line begins at Shearn Street and Hemphill Street. Once dismissal procedures begin, the first car will be asked to move up.

Siblings:
The eldest sibling will join the youngest sibling to be dismissed together from one location. Pick up at your youngest child’s dismissal location.

PARKING:
-Parents in all grades are welcome to park and walk their children to the cafeteria door! Street Parking is the only option available.  
*Please do not use the Chick-Fil-A parking lot, you will be towed.  Patrol guards are available at all the street crossings to facilitate safety.  Teachers and staff have priority for the school parking lot.

BREAKFAST:
-Breakfast is provided to all students free of charge.  Breakfast will be held in your child’s respective classrooms.

LUNCH:
-Lunch is provided to all students free of charge.  Additional snack foods and treats may be purchased during lunchtime.  Payments can be made in CASH to the HISD Food Services cashier in the cafeteria or online using a credit card at School Café: https://www.schoolcafe.com/. Please note that there is a five percent convenience fee per transaction.

JOIN YOUR STUDENT FOR LUNCH:
*Must be VIPS approved.

DRESS CODE:
Top: Shirts/Sweaters
-Any solid color polo style shirt either short or long sleeves with or without the Crockett logo
-Crockett T-Shirts
-PTO Spirit T-Shirts
-Shirts with the name of a college or university (Shirts with the Crockett Logo may be purchased from the front office.)
* Crockett Logo shirts are not required.  A Crockett Logo Gold Polo is recommended for Field Trips.
-If sweaters or sweatshirts are worn, uniforms must be worn under these clothing items. Sweaters or sweatshirts with written statements or band names are prohibited.
-Hoodies are prohibited.

Bottom:  
-Khaki (tan) or navy blue solid colored pants, skirts, or shorts (no rips or tears).
-Pants, shirts, and shorts must fit properly at the waist; a belt is preferred to hold up pants.
-Skirts or jumpers must be traditional design and may not be more than 3 inches above the knee with no splits or slits.
-Leggings may be worn underneath skirts.
-Shorts must be worn at the knee or no more than 3 inches above the knee.
-Any oversized, undersized, torn, cut at the seam or frayed pants are not permitted. All clothing must fit appropriately.

COMMUNICATION:
-Crockett Elementary School Newsletter is distributed to the entire school every week on Friday via: Class Dojo and email.
-Class or Grade specific information will also be sent out via the communication folders. Class Dojo will be the tool for immediate school wide, grade wide and classroom communications. You will be invited to join Class Dojo by your student’s teachers and we highly encourage you to do so.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS:
-The Wolf Den: more information can be found in the front office of the school.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
-The Crockett Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a key support system to our principal, teachers and staff and positively impacts the educational experience for our children. As family members of Crockett Elementary students – you are a member of the PTO!  PTO meetings are open to every Crockett Elementary family and are held the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6pm via Zoom. The link will be posted in the event details on our Facebook Page and in our Calendar on this website. These meetings are a great way to learn more about what is going on and ways to get involved.
-Also check out the “Ways to Help” tab on the PTO website to discover other ways you can help.
-Attending “Admin Chat” is an additional way to learn about the goings on at Crockett and ways you can help.  “Admin Chat” meeting occur the first Friday of the Month at 8:30 am in the Crockett Elementary Library.

VIPS:
-To be eligible to volunteer at Crockett HISD sponsored events, you must be VIPS approved.  Click on the link and follow the instructions to register online.  Final approval takes 2-3 weeks.  Please keep this in mind if you plan to assist with chaperoning Field Trips.
